Current Therapeutic Research, published bimonthly, provides peer-reviewed, rapid publication of original reports of recent developments in drug therapy, as well as in-depth review articles on specific drug therapies or disease states. The journal serves an international audience of scientists and clinicians in a variety of research, academic, and clinical practice settings by quickly disseminating research findings. In addition, the articles are indexed by major biomedical abstracting databases. Published articles range from pilot studies exploring new drugs and new indications for existing drugs to large, multicenter Phase III and IV trials. In addition to publishing the results of a broad range of multispecialty clinical and experimental studies, the journal has 2 specialty sections: Trials in Special Populations and Trials from Resource-Limited Settings. The journal also encourages submission of brief reports and commentaries on topics that are timely or provocative. Current Therapeutic Research expects manuscripts to conform to the Vancouver style, which is described in the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (N Engl J Med. 1997;336:309315 or www.icmje.org). Reports of randomized controlled trials should conform to the CONSORT guidelines (www.consort-statement.org). A diagram illustrating the flow of participants through the trial is required. All manuscripts are peer reviewed by at least 2 independent researchers for clinical relevance, technical accuracy, methodologic rigor, clarity, and objectivity. Because Current Therapeutic Research carries no advertising, a production fee is charged for accepted papers to defray costs, thereby allowing publication of all accepted manuscripts in the next available issue. The ability to pay the production fee does not influence decisions regarding the acceptance of a paper, which is solely dependent on the peer-review process. Page fees for exceptional papers that are not sponsored by industry, a university grant, or alternative forms of support may be waived at the publishers discretion. Current Therapeutic Research is a member of the Elsevier Science family of journals, which includes The Lancet, The American Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and more than 1600 other medical and scientific journals. |
